First of all lets see what means RELAIS & CHATEAU:
Relais & Châteaux is a global fellowship of individually owned and operated luxury hotels and restaurants. The group currently has some 500 members in 60 countries on five continents.
History:
Established in France in 1954, the Association's mission is "to spread its unique art de vivre across the globe by selecting outstanding properties with a truly unique character."
The group is known for its strict admission standards. In addition to luxurious facilities, members must have special features distinguishing them from chain hotels. Most of them are historic landmarks such as castles, manor houses, or townhouses in idyllic settings and offering exquisite cuisine.
Prospective and current members are evaluated by the group's traditional "five C" motto: Caractère, Courtoisie, Calme, Charme et Cuisine.

So Relais and Chateau means LUXURY and the Villa Maria Cristina is that, a luxurious hotel located in Guanajuato city, just 15 min away from the downtown.
Located in charming Paseo de la Presa boulevard and offering the most splendid views of the imposing La Bufa Hill, Villa María Cristina opened its doors in 2005 with 13 Suites and, in 2015, enlarged to 38 Suites including one private contemporary style villa.
The classic facade and entrance lobby hide an enthralling and diversified luxury hideaway composed by restored 19th-century neoclassical mansions and a typical Bruges Maison, that are connected through groomed galleries, patios, gardens and terraces giving the idea of a small village plenty of lavish facilities and wide range of activities for spending a memorable journey. The general design is inspired in Guanajuato’s town through its internal paths, stairs, alleys, Catalan mosaics and French cast iron columns, besides the Belgium façade house.
Art lovers will admire an eclectic mix of classic and contemporary original pieces of art from local and foreign renowned artists. The extensive facilities include two restaurants, one Lounge bar, two other bars, an impressive movie theater up to 30 people, and a deck with an outdoor heated swimming pool.
For wellness, besides the fitness center, the 300 sq. meters Terma Spa features a covered heated swimming, steams and sauna baths among many upscale facilities.
For families the kid’s lounge and heated kid’s plunge pool serve as great options for youngest guests. All the services that this hotel offers are amazing but what about the city? When I travel for holidays I want to relax from the busy life but also I want to discover a new place, learn about its culture, language, food and of course I WANT TO TAKE NICE PHOTOS.
Guanajuato is an UNESCO World Heritage Site and a charming colonial-era city situated in a picturesque valley surrounded by the Sierra Gordo Mountains.
The city built its wealth after silver was discovered in the region in the late 1600’s. Colorful architecture has a distinct European flavor and shady plazas are dotted with sidewalk cafes, museums, theaters, markets and historic monuments. Guanajuato is home to many annual cultural events, including the famous Cervantino Festival of Performing Arts.
